Shell to Sea rejects 'non-cooperation' claim in rape-tape probe

A member of the Shell to Sea group is refuting allegations by the Garda Ombudsman that one of the women embroiled in controversy over a tape recording of gardaí did not cooperate with the investigation.

Earlier it emerged that the tape - said to contain allegations that gardaí made comments about raping a female protestor - may have been tampered with.

The Justice Minister Alan Shatter also said that one of the women who made a complaint against five gardaí did not cooperate with the investigation.

However, Caoimhe Kerrins of Dublin Shell to Sea said the woman did cooperate with gardaí.

"That's not true at all…She fully cooperated with the Garda Ombudsman through her solicitor…To state that she hadn’t cooperated, I find it very difficult to read that," she said.
