Govt delays whistle-blower referendum
The Government is delaying plans for a referendum on whistle-blowing.
It follows advice that work on the legislation could not be completed in time to hold it on the same day as the Presidential election, on Thursday, October 27.
The Cabinet today decided two referenda would be held on that day.
One is in relation to judges' pay, while the other is to deal with the Abbeylara judgement and government plans to give Oireachtas Committes certain powers of inquiry.
