Five arrested in connection with Cork dissident investigation

Gardaí investigating the activities of dissident Republicans have arrested five men in Cork this morning.

A search and arrest operation was carried out at approximately 7am when gardaí from the Special Detective Unit Cork Division, assisted by the Regional Support Unit, searched a number of locations in the city.

The men (three aged in their 40s, one in his 20s and one in his 50s) are currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Mayfield, Gurrannabraher and Togher garda stations.
