High winds, low visibility hamper Donegal search for missing teenager

Poor weather conditions are hampering the search for a teenager missing in Co Donegal.

It is understood 17-year-old Sean McNair from Derry got into difficulty while swimming with friends at Rathmullen pier in Lough Swilly on Friday night.

A gale warning has been issued for the search area this morning.

Radio officer with the Irish Coastguard at Malin Head Neil Canning said poor sea conditions and visibility were delaying the operation, preventing the helicopter from flying and making it unlikely that the lifeboats could be launched today.

"Today it will be a shoreline search at low water," he said.
