Tensions between judges and the Government have escalated after the Justice Minister Alan Shatter confirmed that he has asked for the removal of a memo on the courts service website criticising the proposed referendum on judges' pay.

Mr Shatter said the memo was not sanctioned by the Government and he is disappointed that it continues to be published on the courts service website.
