Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has insisted that a new Dublin Bus airport service, revealed this morning, will not replace plans for the Metro North.

Minister Varadkar admitted that the new and improved Airlink route, which will transport passengers along the length of the quays and out to the airport through the Port Tunnel, covers much of the same route proposed for the Metro North.

However, the Minister said this merely shows how effective bus services can be with efficient planning.

He is adamant plans for Metro North will not be affected.
