Up to 51% of people back the Government's proposals to introduce penalties for political parties which do not field 30% of women candidates, according to the 'We the citizens' forum.

However, 88% agreed that the removal of barriers like childcare and unsocial working hours, as well as other "soft measures" to enhance women's roles in the workplace, should be introduced.
