The Chief Executive of the Irish National Stud John Osbourne is moving to scotch rumours that the centre could be sold.

The Co. Kildare facility is solvent, but traded at a loss for seven of the eight years between 2002 and 2009.

It was one of a handful of locations visited by Queen Elizabeth II during her historic trip to Ireland, and it has reported an upsurge in visitors since.

Speculation about its sale arises from reports that a number of State assets are to be disposed of.

CEO told KFM that selling the stud wouldn't make much fiscal sense:
