The HSE has said there is no date set for the withdrawal of any services at Saint Colmcille's Hospital in Dublin.

It has issued a statement in response to reports that 24 hour A&E services will end this year at the Loughlinstown facility.

A spokesperson said the hospital is an important part of the joint acute service operated along with Saint Vincent's, and Saint Michael's hospitals.

The statement said management are continuing to engage with colleagues in the area "with a view to configuring acute hospital services along the lines of the national acute medicine programme".
