Reilly: Idea for immunisation cap 'laughable'

The Health Minister James Reilly has described as "utter nonsense" proposals to cut the vaccination programme for young children.
But James Reilly said the proposal, which was contained in a leaked draft document from hospital service managers, is reflective of the serious financial situation in the sector.
The document includes a waiting list for some maternity services, caps on access to immunisation, and even the scaling back of services for victims of sexual abuse.
The Health Minister has also described the idea that a cap be placed on immunisation as "laughable".
It also suggests that if the worst comes to the worst, some smaller hospitals including the Louth County hospital may be closed.
Minister Reilly said although he can "never say never", closing smaller hospital is not on his agenda.
