A new clinical trial for a promising new drug for motor neuron disease is underway at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
The first patient in Europe to participate in the trial has been enrolled by doctors.
It is hoped the new drug being developed could significantly improve the lives of the those who suffer with the disease.
Consultant neurologist and lead researcher of the clinical trial Professor Orla Hardiman has said it will take some time to see the results.
