Plumber jailed for incorrect VAT returns

A 46-year-old plumber has been jailed for nine months for failing to make correct VAT returns.

Thomas McGrath from Mercer House, Mercer Street left the Revenue short of €44,000.

The judge said he effectively stole the money.

The father of one was previously convicted in 2007 for failing to file income tax returns.
