Healy Rae: 'No intention' of giving up board position after Minister's request
Kerry TD Michael Healy Rae has said he has no intention of giving up a state board position on the Citizens Information Board.
The Social Protection Minister Joan Burton has written to the independent deputy asking him to resign from his post.
It is understood the TD was granted the position as part of deal struck with his father by the previous Government.
Michael Healy Rae said he would not give up the job, and saw no reason he should be "singled out".
"How many other politicians in Ireland are on different boards?.. Why should I be picked out, out of hundreds of people, and why should I be told that I can’t be on a board? I have no intention of getting out of the minister's way," he said.
