Rose of Tralee regional selection process gets underway

The Rose of Tralee regional selection process begins in Portlaoise today.

Roses representing 28 counties in Ireland and major cities in USA, Canada and Europe will be competing for a place in the festival.

The judging panels will have the task of choosing 23 of the 51 entrants to take part in the 2011 August final.

Communications manager with the Rose of Tralee International Festival John Drummey said the proceedings will begin with a parade in Portlaoise, with three nights of activities planned.
