E.coli-outbreak products 'have not reached Ireland'

Consumers in Ireland are being told not to worry about a deadly outbreak of E.coli, which has killed 18 people in Europe.

The Food Safety Authority has assured consumers here that the products believed to be contaminated by the mutant strain of the bacteria have not reached Ireland.

However, anyone who has been to Germany recently and feels unwell is advised to seek medical help.

Chief Executive of the FSAI Professor Alan Reilly said the current scare would die down in the coming weeks as the affected food goes out of date.
