Galway County Councillor Michael 'Stroke' Fahy is appealing against his conviction for obtaining €7,000 from the local authority by false pretences.

Mr Fahy was originally convicted by a jury in 2007 of offences relating to the operation of a Community Involvement Scheme to widen the road beside his land in 2002 and 2003.
