The Society of St. Vincent De Paul is calling on the Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn to stop new editions of school books being used each year in the classroom.

The group, which holds its first ever General Assembly in Dublin today, said the constant change of editions is putting an unnecessary financial strain on families.
