Judge imposes one-year sentence on man for 'horrendous' sex abuse

A County Laois man has been given a one-year sentence for sexually assaulting his niece when she was 11 years old.

The 27-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted by a jury at the Central Criminal Court on two counts of sexually assaulting the girl at her home between June 1998 and June 2001.
