Gardaí arrest man in connection with Limerick attack

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Limerick overnight which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Limerick overnight which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

The victim, also aged 22, was found with serious injuries on a footpath on Bank Place in the city at around 2.30am.

He was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

The man was arrested on the north side of the city this afternoon and is being held at Henry Street Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
