The High Court has approved an award of €2.35m in damages to the family of a woman who died shortly after giving birth at a Dublin maternity hospital.

Mrs Taz (Tazeem) Kenefick, a 35-year-old dentist, died following complications that occurred during and shortly after she gave birth to her second child at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, Dublin on November 28, 2004.
