Homes evacuated in Derry security alert

A security operation is underway in Derry this morning, following the discovery of a suspicious object on Racecourse Road in Shantallow.

The device was discovered just before 6am today.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated and roads have been closed.

The Army Bomb disposal team is at the scene.
