Two teenagers have appeared in court in Dublin charged in connection with a burglary on the northside of the city on Wednesday night.

Two teenagers have appeared in court in Dublin charged in connection with a burglary on the northside of the city on Wednesday night.

It happened on Botanic Avenue when five men entered a house at around 11.30pm.

They ransacked the house and stole some property, while forcing the occupant to withdraw money from nearby ATM machines.

A 16-year-old minor from North Dublin who cannot be named because of his age, and 18-year-old Ben Kelly of Tiara House in Milltown, Piltown in Kilkenny, is each accused of robbing an iPod, a DVD player, speakers and a mobile phone at a house on Botanic Avenue.

Dublin District Juvenile Court heard neither youth replied to the charge and both have been remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.

Gardaí believe five males entered the house on Botanic Avenue at around 11.30pm before ransacking it.

A 21-year-old man was taken at knifepoint to his car and made to drive to two separate ATM machines, before he managed to escape.

A 15-year-old who was arrested in connection with the incident has since been released without charge and a file has been prepared for the DPP.
