O'Dea eliminated after first Seanad count

Fine Gael Dublin Councillor Jim O'Dea has been eliminated after the first count at the Seanad elections.

There are 122 candidates contesting 43 out of the 60 seats in the educational and cultural panel.

TDs, senators and councillors are entitled to vote in the contest, which is carried out by postal ballot.
