Man seriously injured in North Circular Road assault

A 35-year-old man was seriously injured in Dublin early today in an assault at the junction of Goldsmith Street and the North Circular Road.

Gardaí at Mountjoy are investigating the incident, which took place shortly before 1.30am and involved two other men.

The injured man sustained serious injuries to his arm. He was taken to the Mater Hospital.

Two men, aged 27 and 30, were later arrested in a flat on the North Circular Road and were taken to Store Street garda station where they are detained under section 4 of Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí say the incident started outside the Spar Shop on the North Circular Road. They have asked for anyone who was in the general area of the Spar Shop and the junction with Goldsmith Street between 1am and 2am to contact them at 01 6668600, on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or at any garda station.
