Garda chief calls for dedicated welfare fraud unit

The general secretary of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has today called for the establishment of a special garda unit to tackle social welfare fraud.

Addressing delegates at the Association's annual conference, Joe Dirwan also highlighted the waste in the public sector, claiming garda IT systems are still not being used to eliminate paperwork.
