Mayo County Council is seeking to reduce its workforce by more than 150 people, it has been reported.

A senior source within the local authority has confirmed to Midwest News that a rationalisation process, under the provisions of the Croke Park Agreement, is underway.

It is understood that a recommendation has been made that 152 jobs.

Discussions between Council management and unions on reducing staff numbers are now thought to be underway.
