Sligo man handed 10-year sentence for sexual assault

A Sligo man has been jailed for ten years for raping and sexually assaulting his teenage daughter five years ago.

The 46-year-old man, was found guilty by a jury following a six-day trial at the Central Criminal Court in which he had claimed his daughter was a compulsive liar.

Now aged 19, she gave evidence that the abuse happened most nights and that on one occasion she called her father a pervert and he had kicked her in the face.
