Dublin man pleads guilty to possession of firearm

A Dublin man has pleaded guilty to possession of a submachine gun and ammunition at the Special Criminal Court.

A Dublin man has pleaded guilty to possession of a submachine gun and ammunition at the Special Criminal Court.

Stephen McGowan of Westbourne Avenue in Clondalkin pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of an Intertec 9mm submachine gun and one magazine suitable for use in the gun at his home on September 25th, 2010.

The 33-year-old also pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of eighteen 9mm rounds of ammunition at the same address on the same date.

He was remanded on continuing bail to appear before the court on July 13 for sentencing.
