Dublin Port to consult widely on massive redevelopment plan

Dublin Port is launching a public consultation process on a massive redevelopment plan which will see the port double its capacity over the next 30 years.

It will examine areas such as current and future land use within the port and how some 13,500 trucks move in and out every day.

The environmental impact of any expansion will also be looked at.

Chief Executive of Dublin Port Company Eamon O'Reilly says locals will be consulted on the plans:

"We simply don’t have the capacity to handle the increase in volume…We're reaching out to our stakeholders (including customers, staff, local communities) to create framework from which we will draw projects in the future," he said.
