Detectives in the North were carrying out a manhunt today after police officer Ronan Kerr was killed by a booby trap car bomb in Omagh.

The 25-year-old had only spent weeks in the PSNI when the device exploded under the vehicle outside his home on the outskirts of Omagh, Co Tyrone, yesterday. He only graduated from training college last December.
