Car damaged in Dublin explosion

An investigation is underway after a bomb exploded at a house in Ballyfermot in Dublin.

The device was found under a car which was parked in the driveway of a house on Rossmore Drive.

It exploded at around 2am this morning, causing extensive damage to the car.

There were people in the house at the time of the incident but no one was injured.

The Army Bomb Disposal was called to the scene and an investigation is now underway.

Meanwhile the Bomb Disposal team was also called out in Leitrim last night after an improvised grenade launcher and two rounds of ammunition were found in a field in Ballinamore.

The army said the device was in poor condition. All items were made safe at the scene and handed over to gardaí.

A small quantity of black powder and a detonator were removed by the team for further analysis.
