A teenage boy is recovering after being attacked by a group of people who kicked him about the head and body.

The 15-year-old was sitting close to a car wash on the Foyle Road in Derry at 8pm yesterday when his attackers pounced.

The youngster, who told police he could not tell how many were in the group, received injuries to his face and bruising to his back and shoulders.

He managed to break free and ran off in the direction of Southway.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the teenager received medical treatment but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Strand Road police station.
