Gardaí to launch murder inquiry after Ballymun man dies

Gardaí in Dublin are expected to launch a murder inquiry after a man assaulted by up to two other men last night died this afternoon.

The victim was left fighting for his life following the violent attack outside a pharmacy on the Ballymun Road at around 9pm last night.

The 48-year-old suffered head injuries and was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he died this afternoon.

It is understood the victim was from the Ballymun area.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
