A Limerick man is due to go on trial today for the murder of a carpenter.

Kenneth Collopy, of Kilonan, Ballysimon in Co Limerick, is accused of killing Daniel Fitzgerald at Cloughnadromin, Ballysimon on December 8, 2009.

The 24-year-old carpenter died after he was shot at a house on the main Limerick to Tipperary road.

Kenneth Collopy (aged 19) was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder.

The case is listed to go to trial today at the Central Criminal Court.
