FG delays Cabinet announcement until 5.15pm

The Dáil has been further adjourned until 5:15pm for the appointment of a Cabinet at request of Fine Gael.

The resumption of the Dáil, which had been expected at 4.40pm, has been delayed for a further 30 minutes.

It is understood that Labour will get five seats at the Cabinet table: Eamon Gilmore, Pat Rabbitte, Joan Burton, Brendan Howlin, Ruairí Quinn.

The party's Willie Penrose is expected to be appointed as a so-called "super junior".

The Fine Gael deputies included in the new Cabinet are expected to include: Enda Kenny, James Reilly, Michael Noonan, Alan Shatter, Frances Fitzgerald, Richard Bruton, Phil Hogan, Jimmy Denihan, Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar.

Earlier today, the new Taoiseach Enda Kenny received his seal of office from the President.

After his election in the Dáil, he promised the people that his Government would always tell the truth.
