Mixed results for Fine Gael in Cork
Cork has bucked a nationwide trend towards Fine Gael, in delivering mixed fortunes for the party.
Fine Gael's Simon Coveney has just taken a seat in the Cork South Central, but out-going TD Deirdre Clune - who is part of the Barry dynasty in Cork South Central - has been eliminated on the tenth count.
Coveney is expecting his second child at any moment and laughed this morning: "It never rains but it pours in our house."
Ms Clune's seat is likely to be taken by her party colleague, Jerry Buttimer.
