Cowen: Support ebbs and flows, but doing what's right is important

Counts are resuming at nine constituency centres around the country.

They include Carlow/Kilkenny, Cork South Central, Galway East, Galway West, Kerry South, Louth and Wicklow.

In Dun Laoghaire, Labour has called a full recount because of a discrepancy between tallies and count results. That will get underway shortly.

Outgoing Taoiseach Brian Cowen's constituency has yet to elect a single TD, and work has already resumed there today.

Mr Cowen wished the new government well, but refrained from offering them advice, only saying: "The ebbs and flows of political support will always come and go, but doing the right thing is what's important."
