Cork East FF TD Michael Ahern: 'We have to rebuild the party'

After 30 years in politics, Fianna Fáil Cork East TD Michael Ahern has failed to be re-elected.

He said the Fianna Fáil party now needs to rebuild itself from the ground up.

"We'll have to start building at town council and county council level," he said.

He added that rebuilding a party was easier to achieve while in Opposition, rather than in Government "especially when you're in government for the period we have been".
