Turnout 'high' with around 30% of votes cast

Voter turnout in today's General Election is said to be higher than in the previous poll in 2007, according to reports coming in from polling stations around the country.

Some 30% of votes had been cast by 3pm with stations set to remain open until 10pm this evening.
