Brothers convicted of 2006 murder

Two Dublin brothers have been convicted of the murder of a man in Inchicore five years ago.

Warren and Jeffrey Dumbrell of Emmet Place denied murdering Christy Cawley in October 2006, telling the trial they had only intended threatening the father-of-six.

Mr Cawley was chased and stabbed to death in the Tyrone Place flat complex where he lived.

It is the second time the brothers have been convicted in relation to the killing. Their original life sentence for murder was overturned at the Court of Criminal Appeal following comments made

about knife crime by the judge during the original trial.
