Nationwide to cease providing fixed rate mortgages

Irish Nationwide has announced that it is to stop offering its customers fixed rate mortgages.

The building society said the decision has been taken due to prevailing market conditions and the associated high cost of fixed funding.

Existing fixed rate mortgage customers coming to the end of their fixed term will revert to the standard variable Rate.

The measure will come into effect this Friday.
