Badger-baiting on the rise: ISPCA

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is warning that the practice of badger-baiting is on the rise.

This is where dogs and badgers are forced to fight with each other.

The ISPCA said it is currently caring for a number of terrier dogs found with "horrific" injuries to their neck and lower jaw.

It is understood the dogs' injuries are consistent with the sorts of wounds seen on dogs involved in violent encounters with badgers.
