Council reports progress on dump fire
Kildare County Council says firefighters have made good progress in dealing with the landfill fire at Kerdiffstown in Naas.
The fire has been burning for nearly a month now with locals complaining of respiratory problems from the smoke.
In a statement this evening, the local council says most of the huge pile of burning waste has been removed and the threat of further fire has been reduced.
It also says smoke in the area has fallen to very low levels but the health advice already given still applies.
