Man shot dead in Cork

A man in his 30s was shot dead close to the Cork town of Blarney this afternoon.

The dead man, while originally from Cork city, but he had been living in the area.

He sustained gunshot wounds on what is known locally as the Glen Road, linking Waterloo to Grenagh.

Tonight, the scene of the shooting has been sealed off by Gardaí.

A post mortem is due to be carried out on the body of the dead man at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí from Gurranbraher Garda Station are leading the investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them
