Cork Airport closed as light aircraft crashes
A small plane has crashed as it attempted to land in fog at Cork Airport.
The Manx 2.com turbo with 10 passengers and two crew on board was on a flight from Belfast.
The plane had made a number of attempts to land before it crashed on the third attempt.
There have been reports that up to eight deaths and several injuries at the scene. This has not been confirmed as yet.
"It had been trying to land in foggy conditions. This was its third attempt to land," an IAA spokeswoman said.
It is understood debris from the wreckage has been scattered over a wide area across the runway.
A fleet of ambulances are at the scene and the airport runway has been cordoned off.
A team from the Department of Transport air accident unit is on route to the scene.
