Man arrested in connection with drugs and firearm find

One man is in custody following a number of searches in the Inchicore area of Dublin 8 yesterday evening.

Two houses were searched during a Garda operation and a quantity of cocaine and a firearm and ammunition were recovered.

Gardaí discovered cocaine estimated to be valued at €20,000 and seized an automatic pistol and number of rounds of ammunition in one of the houses.

The pistol has been taken to Garda Headquarters for technical and ballistics examination.

A man in his late teens was arrested at the scene. He is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Kevin Street garda station.

In a second house, gardaí seized cocaine estimated to be valued €10,000.

A female in her teens was arrested at the scene. She was subsequently released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
