Man gets life for 2007 Limerick killing

A 21-year-old man who killed the wrong man in a botched murder in Limerick four years ago has been jailed for life.

Jonathan Fitzgerald of South Claughan Road, Garryowen shot Noel Crawford but had intended killing his brother, Paul.

A second man, Michael O'Callaghan of Pineview Gardens, Moyross, admitted the manslaughter of Mr Crawford, something the jury was only told at the end of the trial.

Fitzgerald was given the mandatory life sentence at the Central Criminal Court today, while O'Callaghan was jailed for seven years.
