Man injured in Cork stabbing attack

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being injured in an overnight knife attack in Cork.

The victim - in his 40s - was stabbed in the lower abdomen during an incident outside a house on Plunkett Road in Ballyphehane at around 2am.

He was brought to Cork University hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, and his condition is said to be critical.

Gardaí believe at least two men were involved in the attack.

The area has now been sealed off for a technical examination.
