Armed robber shot dead by police officer in North
The North's Police Ombudsman has launched an investigation after a suspected armed robber was shot dead by an off-duty police officer.
The incident happened at a petrol station on the Albertbridge Road in the east of the city last night.
It is believed the dead man - who was in his 20s - was armed with a knife.
Local politicians say the community will be seeking answers over what happened.
Officers are routinely armed while on duty and have weapons for their protection when off duty.
