Electronics company set to shed 40 jobs
A company in Shannon, Co Clare has told staff that it plans to seek as many as 40 redundancies in the coming months.
Management at Ei Electronics called workers to a meeting yesterday afternoon to tell them the news.
The company is seeking between 30 and 40 redundancies from its 350 strong workforce however there is speculation that the move may only be a temporary measure.
It is understood that the company has an over supply of stock and is letting some staff go until that stock has returned to normal levels.
The company is now set to enter a 30-day consultation process with staff before the lay-offs will begin.
Ei, based in the Shannon industrial estate, is a 100% Irish owned company which specialises in the manufacture of fire safety products for the home.
